Oriëntals & Oriëntal Trompet (OT)

Some 60% of all the lilies supplied within Royal FloraHolland consists of Orientals and OT. The flowers are larger on average than those of the LA group. Orientals & OTs are strong, long-lasting flowers. Because of their size and the rainbow of colours, they make a big impressionand are real eye-catchers to make a statement with! Scent? These lilies have a very broad palette of scents, from lightly scented to room-filling. In 2022, 216 different varieties were supplied within Royal FloraHolland. From 100 pieces to over 20 million per variety.


Double lilies
Double lilies have only been introduced in recent years. Availability and volume supplies will definitely grow in the coming years. Double lilies have extra petals, giving them a beautiful, full appearance. They really explode out of the vase! Scent? As double lilies are descended from the Orientals, they have the same distinctive light to strong scent. In the double lily range, there are many varieties available that are completely pollen-free. In 2022, 50 different varieties were supplied within Royal FloraHolland, ranging from several dozen to hundreds of thousands per variety.

Longiflorum Asiatic & Asiatics (LA & A)
The LA & A branch of the family accounts for around 30% of all the lilies supplied within Royal FloraHolland. The vast majority (95%) of these are LA. Pink, orange, yellow, red, white and all the variations in between: there is plenty to choose from. Owing to this wide range of colours, the LA & A group is great for public holidays and themes. The cup-shaped flowers do well in generous but also somewhat smaller bouquets. Scent? LA & A Lilies are virtually odourless. Perfect for customers who are not fond of lily fragrance. Of LA & Asians, 137 different varieties were supplied within Royal FloraHolland in 2022, with the top 20 providing 75% of the volume.

Longiflorum and Longiflorum Oriëntal (LO)
The Longiflorum has distinctive long, large flowers. These were originally pendulous, but now 80% of the lilies supplied are of the erect type. In recent years, we have seen more and more crossbreeds between Longiflorum and Oriental, called LO. This has large flowers, which are often white and sometimes light pink. A plus point of this variety is its long vase life. Scent? Longiflorum and LO have a sweet fragrance. Of Longiflorum and LO, 15 different varieties were supplied within Royal FloraHolland in 2022.

Do Lilies offer different scent notes?

The diversity of Lilies is overwhelming. There’s so much choice in terms of fragrance! Hence Orientals & Oriental Trumpet (OT) offer a very wide palette of scents: from unscented or lightly scented to through to fragrances that fill the room. Because double Lilies are derived from the Orientals, they have the same distinctive light to strong scent. If you are looking for soft, sweet notes, you should opt for the Longiflorum and Longiflorum Oriental (LO) product groups .

Are there lilies without stamens?

All lilies have stamens, but the double-flowered varieties have very limited pollen. Breeding has also produced a limited number of single-flowered varieties without stamens.

I'm looking for unscented lilies. What varieties should I choose?

Fragrance? The Longiflorum Asiatic & Asiatics (LA & A) lilies are virtually unscented. The perfect choice for customers who are not fond of the scent of lilies.

What do I advise my customer about getting rid of pollen stains?

Stay calm! Definitely don't rub or wet the stain. Get some adhesive tape and remove the pollen (powder) with the sticky side.
